We were tired, sulky and had the complexion of a hormonal teenager, or to put it more politely - as our kind beautician did - we were just severely dehydrated.
Good job really then, that we were lay down in a therapeutic trance on one of the massage tables in South Kensington’s G-spa.
Sixty minutes of facial heaven saw us feeling revitalised to the point that we didn’t even care that we’d just been stripped of all makeup (and that seriously takes some doing).
We also felt like we had learnt something…
Because our treatment was a personalized facial, we had been talked through everything on a very individual level; our skin, our health, our stress levels, our unhealthy intake of coffee… everything. And suitably we were massaged, deep-pore cleansed, toned, extracted upon, steamed, rejuvenated and moisturised in ways which matched our needs.
Dermalogica products are used here, and come highly recommended by the staff who also use them, which is always reassuring. They are notable for what they don’t contain – no mineral oils, lanolin, no irritating artificial colours or fragrance, and no alcohol. Lovely. Explains why our faces smelt so natural.
After the facial we were given our own sponges so we could try and mimic the procedures ourselves…
And oh, how we are trying.
